Within the programme "Civil Society Advocacy Initiative - CSAI" funded by the Vermont ISC, TRI Team members and BCIF representatives have agreed - based on the performed evaluation of capacities of 20 organisations - to develop a training plan for these organisations which will further empower them in the field of advocacy in the local community.
Owing to years of experience, knowledge and familiarisation with the sector, TRI team trainers have often been engaged as external evaluators for a large number of international organisations' programmes, both in Serbia and in the region. The seminars on following topics were realised within the Serbia-wide project for support to Municipal Assemblies, organised by the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities with the support from UNDP and OSCE: communication, negotiation and work efficiency improvement skills for the Municipal Assemblies' members. The purpose of the seminars is to explain the role of the assembly members in communication with citizens.
In cooperation with the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, as a part of the Exchange programme, the TRI Team trainers held 8 seminars for 120 representatives from 80 municipalities across Serbia. During the seminars, the participants had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the basic elements of the project form used for all programmes funded by the European Commission and executed by the European Agency for Reconstruction and Development.
We would particularly like to point out our work with the members of Municipal Assemblies, reflected in direct assistance to two municipalities (Smederevo and Priboj) in regard to writing of project proposals for the EXCHANGE programme, for which the municipalities had applied in cooperation with local nongovernmental organisations.
Supported by the Freedom House, the TRI Team organised seven special seminars on the topic of ADVOCACY and the basic goal of improving the position of NGOs in the local community. The seminars dealt with NGO access to municipality budgets and municipalities providing premises for NGOs on favourable terms.
