The participants of the consultative meeting organized by the European Movement in Serbia (EMinS) yesterday, February 2, 2010, concluded that the representatives of civil society organizations (CSOs) are prepared to participate and cooperate with state institutions in the process of programming of assistance under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) programme.
Jelena Pajović from the Ministry of Finance and Ognjen Mirić from NIPAK provided an introduction to past activities under the IPA programme and main directions for programming over the next two years for the representatives of the civil sector from all parts of Serbia.
The Secretariat of the National IPA Coordinator (NIPAK) defined the primary goals in the areas of rule of law; regional, local rural and infrastructural development; improved human and economic resources; and reforms of state administration; which will be supported from the IPA Component I.
Experts in individual areas from the civil sector reviewed the proposed priorities and prepared a list of suggestions to be submitted to NIPAK and the competent ministries in another meeting, scheduled to take place on February 9.
The systemic inclusion of the civil sector during the programming process offered an excellent opportunity to compare experiences and information collected on the ground with the recognized priorities and to influence certain aspects of programming.
At the same time, the invitation is recognition of the sector, its potentials and capacity for quality contribution to this important process.
