Civic Initiatives salute the adoption of the new Law on Associations (NGO Law). The joint multi-year efforts of CSOs and the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government resulted in the adoption of the modern law that will regulate the foundation of CSOs, and will also define the rules concerning their registration and pre-registration in accordance with international recommendations and standards. Thus, the basis for stable and long-term development of CSOs in Serbia is enabled to be established.
Immediately after the Law has been adopted, CSOs will have to deal with a huge work related to pre-registration. In next 15 months, Civic Initiatives, in cooperation with the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government and with the assistance of international organizations that had so far provided assistance in creating enabling environment for CSOs, will provide support to CSOs in this demanding and hard process.
