Teaching Literacy to Adult Roma People in Mali Leskovac Settlement
The second part of the "Teaching Literacy to Adult Roma People" is also being implemented by the CI Youth Program. Thanks to the support of the International Women's Club it is being implemented at the Mali Leskovac - Roma settlement in Palilula Belgrade municipality.
On March 21, 2012 9 students of Faculty of Philology, Faculty of Political Sciences and the Faculty of Drama Arts, who were previously involved in the CI project "Teaching Literacy to Adult Roma People", met with participants from Mali Leskovac, a settlement in Belgrade municipality Palilula.
Roma men and women from this settlement expressed their interest to attend the course twice a week for the next 6 month. After the learning part is over, students will meet the participants for two month more in order to sustain all the knowledge acquired during the project.
The same CI project, supported by the city of Belgrade, has given excellent results infive settlements of displaced Roma on the outskirts of Belgrade, where 15 students taught literacy to 43 adult Roma people.
