Young women promote peace, equality, discrepancy

With this programme we wanted to support young female leaders in Serbia. In order to achieve this, we joined international project which is put through five following countries: Slovakia, Check Republic, Hungary, Poland and Serbia.

The goals of the project are:

  • To initiate leadership and changes, together with skills of conflict resolution for 20 young women who work with marginalized groups (minorities, women, handicapped persons, refugees and depopulated people, Romas etc.)
  • To educate representatives of marginalized groups on leadership, ways of creating changes and skills on conflict resolutions for over 900 members of communities in four coutries through trainings, new initiatives and counciling.
  • To create a net of 20 young women from five countries, who will take initiative, share information and best experience in working with marginalized groups.
  • To increase visibility of young women as leaders in their communities and to increase selfconfidence of young women so they could be efficient leaders, capable of creating positive influence on their communities.

Realized activities in Serbia during years 2003 and 2004:

Number of activities: 16
Towns: Niš, Kragujevac, Valjevo, Zajecar, Velika Plana and Belgrade
Number of beneficiaries: 330 persons
Profile of beneficiaries: women, young women, interirorly depopulated people, refugees, Romas, young people single-parent mothers.
Realized activities: round tables, trainings, workshops, local activities.

Through these activities we tried to improve life of the representatives of marginalized groups, as well as to strengten leader potential of young women who devised and realized these activities. We are sure that we fulfilled our goals, which was shown through inernal evaluation we carried out. One of the paarticipants of these activities declared: «After this, I will know to live better».
