The observed period from July 22 to August 4, 2022 was marked by numerous violations of freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and freedom of association in Serbia.<\/p>\n

Activists of “Women for Peace”, an organization that has been involved in supporting women victims of violence for 15 years in Leskovac, Serbia, were threatened after they pointed out to the fact that a convicted abuser received funds from the city budget to open an SOS office to combat domestic violence. The KRIK portal is facing yet another SLAPP lawsuit, this time from a former secretary of state at the Department of the Interior, who is on trial for influence peddling. Journalists from the newspaper Kurir faced threats from the owner of an allegedly illegal nursing home, after they published an article about this institution and the working conditions there.<\/p>\n

Activist Brajan Brkovi\u0107 was again targeted by now unknown persons in front of a protest in Novi Sad, and in the field of freedom of association, the trend of pressure on labor unions continued, this time in the Republic Geodetic Institute.<\/p>\n
