Belgrade<\/strong>, November the 17th<\/sup> 2016<\/strong> \u2013 Civic Initiatives have contributed to this year’s “Week of Parliamentarism” by organizing the workshop “Youth and the Media”, in cooperation with students from Traffic-technical high-school – Zemun. The aim of this workshop was to find out directly from students which of the present media contents occupies their attention, what is their opinion about these contents, as well as what would they change in the media.<\/p>\n MP Ms Vesna Marjanovic invited students to show their interest in the most important decisions in the country and not to limit that interest to just one week per year and to be active citizens with critical and constructive attitudes.<\/p>\n Civic Initiatives would like to thank the staff of the National Assembly, Democratic Party, as well as MP Vesna Marjanovic for their dedication and professionalism.<\/p>\n The second “Week of Parliamentarism”, with the slogan “You have the floor”, this year was organized in the period from 07th<\/sup> to 13th<\/sup> of November. “Week of Parliamentarism”, organized by the National Assembly of Serbia in cooperation with the Open Parliament initiative and 60 other partner organizations and institutions, is a series of events that has the aim to get the citizens of Serbia better acquainted with the work of the National Assembly and, through a series of events of a different character, make an open space for discussion and debate on the topic of citizen participation in democratic processes, the importance of the openness of Parliament as an institution and, ultimately, to draw attention to the different ways of communication between citizens and their elected representatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Belgrade, November the 17th 2016 \u2013 Civic Initiatives have contributed to this year’s “Week of Parliamentarism” by organizing the workshop “Youth and the Media”, in cooperation with students from Traffic-technical high-school – Zemun. After a one-day workshop on the theme of freedom of speech, freedom of the media, restrictions and responsibilities within these freedoms, the students had guided tour of the building of the National Assembly, after which they were received by the MP (Democratic Party) and a member of the Committee for Culture and Information, Vesna Marjanovic<\/strong>. In discussion that lasted nearly two hours, students had the opportunity to learn about the responsibilities of MPs, their role, as well as the work they perform before every session of the parliament that the public has the opportunity to follow in the media. The most important part of the discussion was dedicated to education of young people, to opportunities for international student exchanges, as well as to the pressing issues of every young academic \u2013 What happens after completing secondary school and after graduation?<\/p>\n![\"nedelja-parlamentarizma-gi\"](\"http:\/\/www.gradjanske.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Nedelja-parlamentarizma-GI-300x225.jpg\")
