Elections Under the Magnifying Glass

Civic initiatives will continuously monitor and document cases of violations of freedom of expression, assembly, and association throughout the pre-election campaign. We will draw attention to all irregularities and unlawful actions during the election campaign, including cases involving the misuse of public resources and public office for campaign purposes. We will report on all these issues to the interested public on a weekly basis.

The previous period was marked by unequal access to the resources of municipalities and public notary offices among different electoral lists; complaints filed by citizens, which were rejected by the Republic Electoral Commission as unfounded, concerning a potential conflict of interest involving President Vučić, who is both the head of an electoral list and a candidate for prime minister; testimonies from employees and citizens in both the public and private sectors regarding political pressure; and reasonable grounds for suspecting that so-called “phantom electoral lists” may appear in the elections with the aim of confusing voters.
