Violations of basic freedoms in Serbia

December 17-30, 2021

The past two weeks have been very difficult for freedom of expression, assembly and association in Serbia.

The Security Information Agency stopped and interrogated regional peace activist Adriatik Kelmendi again, the Pride Info Center was attacked for the 12th time in a row, and NewsMax Adria journalists were disrupted while reporting from the House of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

The Mayor of Bujanovac, Nagip Arifi, threatened the local media Bujanovacke that they would be banned from reporting on the sessions of the local municipal council, while one journalist and activist from Senta was charged with holding an unreported public gathering, for which she faces a fine ranging from 100,000 to 150,000 dinars. .
