Three Freedoms Under the Magnifying Glass: 17 February – 9 March, 2023

Belgrade, 10 March, 2023 –

Violations of basic freedoms in Serbia

17 February – 9 March, 2023

The observed period from February 17 to March 9, 2023, was particularly difficult for freedom of expression in Serbia.

The editor of the Pančevo SiTi portal Nenad Živković and the activist and executive director of the Pančevo Civic Action Ljiljana Spasić were sued by the former head of the Pančevo Police Department, Igor Arsić, because of a satirical text about Arsić, which was previously published on the aforementioned portal.

FoNet agency reporter Marko Dragoslavić was physically attacked by an unknown participant in the right-wing protest while he was on duty, while TV N1 reporter Milan Nikić from Kragujevac was subjected to multiple cases of pressure after filming the protest of Kragujevac Vodovod workers.

Journalist and one of the authors of the show “Dobar, loš, zao” Marko Vidojković had to leave Serbia at the beginning of February, due to continuous and unresolved death threats to which he has been exposed for years, together with his colleague Marko Kulačin.
