Violations of basic freedoms in Serbia

5 – 18 August, 2022

 

The last two weeks have been marked by numerous violations of freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and freedom of association in Serbia.

The City Board of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party in Kragujevac made a series of accusations against the “Glas Šumadije” portal, while the Danas portal was targeted by top state officials and tabloids close to the authorities.

Environmental activists in Novi Sad expressed concern about suspicious persons visiting them at the location where they have been protesting for two months, while the mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Šapić, targeted the Humanitarian Law Center and its founder, Nataša Kandić.
