8 – 21 May, 2026
During the latest reporting period, several separate incidents involving violations of the rights to freedom of expression, assembly, and association were recorded. In Novi Sad, parents and students of the “Jovan Jovanović Zmaj” Gymnasium protested the conduct of the school administration after the principal restricted students’ movement during the school day and prevented part of them from leaving the building. In Kraljevo, the names and surnames of students and citizens participating in or supporting student activities were publicly disclosed. Journalist associations continue to warn about ongoing threats and pressure on journalists and media workers, including threats sent via social media and direct messages, as well as cases of obstruction of their work during reporting.
