In the area of ​​freedom of expression, the mayor of Belgrade sued the Balkan Investigate Reporting Network (BIRN), demanding 12 million dinars in compensation for the articles published on this portal regarding his real estate. A journalist from the newspaper Danas received death threats, while actor Marko Janketić also received death threats, after he spoke about the dysfunction of institutions in Serbia in a show on Nova S. The President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, publicly criticized an N1 journalist at a press conference, using counterquestions and making accusations against him and N1. Pink TV also aired a video targeting independent journalists from N1 and Nova S, as well as the newspaper Danas.

In the area of ​​freedom of assembly and association, several activists were arrested and misdemeanor proceedings were initiated against them after they prevented the felling of trees in Šodros in Novi Sad, while the “Crni Ovan” bar in the same city, known for organizing activist seminars and alternative fairs, was again the target of an attack by vandals.
