April 23 – May 6, 2021

 

In the past period, Serbia has further declined when it comes to the respect and protection of basic human rights and freedoms, which was again confirmed in reports published by relevant international organizations. Journalists with the CNN affiliate N1 television were once more the target of harassment, as were workers in state-owned companies who dared to give statements about their employer’s disrespect for the law and workers’ rights to that very television. Also notable is the continued trend of the institute of co-financing media projects being abused by several local self-government units in Serbia, which allocated funds to phantom media outlets, as well as those media that can be considered politically suitable due to their closeness with the ruling party.
