Citizens, students, and activists in Serbia are facing daily repression and pressure. In various cities, there is a growing number of detentions and ID checks, often without legal basis, while misdemeanor charges and fines are being issued even to those peacefully expressing their views.

Of particular concern are attacks on activists, as well as incidents at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade, where students were forcibly removed from the building and threatened to collect their belongings themselves. Similar repression was recorded at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (VIŠER), where clashes occurred between students and staff, followed by the detention of students.

In this context, the expulsion of a Russian artist from Serbia is also alarming and has been assessed by activists as part of broader pressure on artistic freedom and public debate.

These events point to systematic attempts to restrict the right to peaceful assembly, freedom of expression, and the expression of dissent, while legal and police pressure is becoming routine practice against government critics.
