29 Aug Announcing International Civil Society Week 2019 – Define the event topics!
International Civil Society Week (ICSW) connects concerned citizens across sectors, themes, regions and backgrounds to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges.
CIVICUS and Civic Initiatives are excited to announce that International Civil Society Week 2019 will take place from 8-12 April 2019 in Belgrade, Serbia. This year, join us to explore how “the power of togetherness” can help overcome shrinking civic space locally and globally.
Come share your ideas; tell your story
Strengthening and helping protect civic space will ensure the sustainability and resilience of civil society around the world. By gathering around “The Power of Togetherness”, we will meet to share experiences and ideas to help ensure that people everywhere can be informed, active and involved in making the decisions that will shape their present and future.
Through a series of events, webinars, workshops and presentations, ICSW 2019 will explore:
- What are the core elements blocking people’s’ ability to participate?
- How are people organising, mobilising and taking action around the world, and in restrictive spaces in particular?
- What are the innovations and best practices that (can) enable people to fulfil their role as active citizens effectively?
In light of the questions above, what are the key topics you think need to be addressed? Use your creativity and expertise to help determine the ICSW 2019 programme tracks by completing this quick, 2-minute (really!) survey. In September, we will call for interested event partners and speakers whose proposals are aligned with the programme tracks and topics that you – as CIVICUS constituents – find most compelling to discuss!
