02 Nov Turkey study visit with key government and CSO stakeholders to Serbia
Belgrade, October 28th, 2016 – During their study visit to Serbia, organized by TACSO, which took place from 24th to 27th of October, members of Turkish delegation met key government stakeholders and CSOs on development of civil society enabling environment and public CSO cooperation for participatory policy development in Turkey.
On day one of their visit, they received the overall picture of EU integration process in Serbia with the focus on programming of EU financial support from representatives of Serbian European Integration Office (SEIO).
Delegation was interested in learning about SECO mechanism, a unique model for participatory programming of EU financial support. SEIO presented their side of the SECO model and later, representatives of SECO consortiums, CSO members gave them opportunity to get inside the mechanism and shared their experience and lessons learned from this model in Serbia.
On the second day of study visit, Members of EU Delegation, Ministry of EU affairs and prominent NGOs visited Government Office for cooperation with CSOs and National Assembly of Serbia. The most important topics were Serbia CSO related legal and institutional frameworks and good for involving civil society in policy processes, regulatory frameworks for improving transparency of public spending, framework for policy development and cooperation between the government and civil society, CSOs role in EU accession process, as well as Serbia EU Integration Process as new framework of enabling environment for civil society development.
National Convention on European Union (NCEU) as a permanent body for thematically structured debate on Serbian accession into the EU presented their work in practice.
